Steel Yourself for Battle

The Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel take on the NSW Swifts on Monday May 6th in our second Invercargill home game of the 2013 season. After last weekend's epic 15-goal win against the LG Northern Mystics, we're looking for a solid back-to-back win to strengthen our position as we head into the business end of the ANZ Championship season.

Our captain Jodi Brown hit the nail on the head when she referred to the Invercargill crowd support as being like having an extra Steel player on the court, so get your game face on and MAKE SOME NOISE !

Defensive coach to join Steel

Southland NPC coach Reinga Te Huia will add valuable defensive nous to the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel this season.

Named as the team’s defensive coach today, Te Huia, of Invercargill, said she was keen to embrace the opportunity to be involved with the Steel franchise and its ANZ Championship campaign.

“I’m looking at it as an opportunity to develop my coaching skills. I’m just going to be a sponge and soak up as much as I can,” she said.

Ball Deliverers Needed!

Hey Kids - E. Hayes and Sons is looking for Official Ball Deliverers for the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel's home games in Invercargill and Dunedin this season.

As a lucky winner, you'll get to deliver the match ball to centre court at the start of the game plus receive two tickets for you and a guardian to watch the game and soak up the exciting home-crowd atmosphere.
